Day 3 - Hokitika to Lake Ianthe
Monday 16th July 2012:
We had quite a late start today and after our big bowl of porridge and collecting our dried out clothes we put on our shopping bags over our socks and set off. With a quick pitstop for some supplies we continued south. We made it to Ross for lunch, an old gold mining town. Got to love a good egg sandwich. We briefly visited the local museum for a $2.00 donation we we learnt of the towns history. We then hit the road again with extra water in hand for our camp tonight.
It was a relatively warm and at some points had to take off the jackets. After a few rather large and long inclines we rolled into Lake Ianthe and set up our tents just meters away from the water. I got the cooker on straight away for dinner. With a few drizzles we went separately to our tents early as we had a huge day of riding tomorrow. The tent and sleeping bag seem to be doing the trick, so we will see in the morning. After the past few days of hectic travel, i started to miss Jen, my wife and wondered what she was doing. It would have been lovely for her to be here tonight.
